That was a caption quoted from Asma's very own blog. This dedicated lass was elected as the Timbalan yang DiPertua MPP in the recent election. Tied with Kee Wai, the Syura was pushed to decide for the winner and second round of election specifically to choose the office-bearer was held.

At a glance, Asma Osman (from Faculty of Nursing) is seen as a very humble individuals BUT you would never expect that she was once very active in a wing of a prominent political party. Asma will write more about so many issues close to her heart. About genderism or sexism, women in politics, nursing as a chosen profession and its misconception and lot more.

It is great to have Asma onboard together with the rest of energetic active talents. They are preparing for the inaugral meeting which will have Prof Datuk Dr Ismail Md Salleh to officiate followed by "Upacara Angkat Sumpah" which will be conducted very soon.

Syura: Suara Demokrasi

"Syura" menurut kamus Dewan Bahasa & Pustaka membawa pengertian: Mesyuarat (untuk mencapai keputusan menurut suara terbanyak)

Inilah teknik pemilihan yang digunakan pada March 4, 2009 lalu apabila 12 calon terakhir setiap fakulti dan pusat "dikunci" di dalam bilik mesyuarat untuk memilih (i) anggota Executive Committee, (ii) anggota biro serta; (iii) wakil-wakil fakulti dan pusat.

Mesyuarat yang pada awalnya menyaksikan para wakil begitu senyap dan "sejuk" tiba-tiba mulai panas apabila setiap anggota dijemput untuk memperkenalkan diri dan membentangkan "manifesto" masing-masing melalui "Mengapa saya perlu menjadi Yang DiPertua?". Pada awalnya, semua kelihatan cuba tolak-menolak untuk tidak terpilih namun apabila laluan diberikan, masing-masing bangun untuk sukarela mendokong cabaran dan membawa suara mahasiswa untuk didengari.

Teknik pemilihan membawa semua ciri-ciri sistem undian pilihanraya lengkap dengan kertas undian rahsia, teknik penandaan yang tidak dapat mengesan siapa memilih siapa, pengiraan kertas undian yang membuka peluang untuk calon mencabar setiap kertas undi, undian semula apabila berlaku "tie", rundingan untuk pemilihan biro dan banyak lagi.

Dalam tempoh 2 jam pemilihan, banyak kejutan yang terlihat dan banyak yang didedahkan kepada para calon. Ini semua akan ditulis sendiri oleh para anggota MPP di dalam tulisan-tulisan mereka akan datang.

Pejabat Hal Ehwal Pelajar juga akan melancarkan satu lagi blog untuk alumni IUCTT. Penulis-penulis jemputan sudah "beratur" mengimbau kenangan masa lalu serta nasihat untuk adik-adik siswa kini.

I was having my breakfast this morning at Bandar Sri Damansara's McDonald and suddenly this song was played by their own internal radio. Sung by Michael Bubble, as melancholic as it was, it brought my memory back to my "kampung".

It is going to be a long weekend with Monday being the Maulidurrasul. Most student will surely grab this opportunity to go "balik kampung" and meet their loved ones (whoever they might be).

There is a score who can't go home despite the long weekend. Those who are preparing for their final examination and those who are too far away from home. Whatever you do throughout this weekend, have a safe journey and come back in one piece. Those preparing for your examination, best wishes of luck.

MPP Twintech: Awaken!

Assalamualaikum and Good Day!

It was a historical day yesterday:[March 04, 2009] the day Student Representative Council rise again. The 12 candidates showed their mantel and everyone stand so firm about "Why you should choose me as your leader".

That was the spirit long lost from our mahasiswa and obviously, Twintech's MPP has awaken.

It was Azli faizal Abd Latip, a student from Faculty of Engineering & Industrial Technology who helmed the trust to head the latest MPP [picture]. Asma Osman (Faculty of Nursing) was elected as the Naib Yang DiPertua, while Toh Kee Wai (Faculty of Optometry & Vision Sciences) will shoulder the Secretary's responsibilities. Muhammad Azlan Juhari (Faculty of Biotechnology) was elected as the Treasurer.

We will get to know each and every representatives "up-close and personal" in this blog's entries to come.

Our heartiest congratulation to all EXCO members and we wish them the best of luck championing "Suara Mahasiswa"
